I live & work in GA but am looking into the MASS 529 program. As an out of state/non-resident person, will I or my beneficiary ever be responsible for paying MASS state income taxes on the earnings in the plan? Will I ever need to complete a MASS state income tax return?

There are no absolutes in tax life. Currently I think Mass does not tax the income from qualified distributions from 529s.

But depending upon who gets tagged with the income and whether its qualified or nonqualified and where that person lives they could get tagged with a state income tax--not necessarily Mass's

Most likely you will never fill out a Mass return--but no absolutes.
