IL 529 , how can i quit the advisor that initiated the plan?

I have a IL 529 brightdirections for about 4 years now. It was created with a financial advisor but im not sure if he does anything anymore. I haven't received any communication from him in over 2 years, his email is dead and so is his phone number listed on the 529 statement.Not sure if he charges me commission , i dont know how to check all that. i must admit im green in this stuff and i need to take educate my self how to take control of the account and cut him out , is that a possibility? what do i have to do ?

Try contacting the Bright Directions plan directly to explain the situation. Their phone number is 1-877-432-7444.

I contacted brightstar and all I have to do is send in letter requesting to remove the advisor of the account
question is how do i proceed from there. do you have pointers what i should educate my self on?
