Nevada age of majority

My son has a UTMA account funded by his grandfather who is also the custodian. It was established in Nevada which shows online that the age of majority is 18. We are now being told by Mission Investment Fund that it has been changed to 21. I can't find anything to support the change they are claiming.

Any insight is appreciated.

In some instances the Nevada age of majority for UTMA accounts can be older than 18. If you can read and understand the statute, ask Mission Investment Fund which instance applies in your son's case. Make them defend their position.

Thank you for this information. I didn't believe Mission Investment Fund when they just said that they received information that Nevada as a whole changed the age of majority to 21. I asked them for the documentation they received and they are playing dumb with me. And I wish that my father in law who is the custodian could help with the details of when he set up the account but it's been 19 years and he doesn't remember.

I will try to make sense of the statute and I am definitely still pursuing MIF to give me concrete information regarding my son's account.
